Dengue fever is spread through insect bites. The greatest weapon in the fight against insect-born illness is the window and the second greatest is insecticide. When people are encouraged or mandated to open their windows for cooling instead of using fans or air conditioning, and when insecticide use is curtailed, fever spreads.
In short, the alarmists share a great part of the responsibility for the increase.
