It’s looking less and less like CO2 is a problem so we need to find another problem.
The chief source of black carbon is biomass burning in Third World countries. I’d guess the second source is coal smoke from China and India.
The cure for black carbon, then, is more electricity and natural gas so people can burn cleaner fuel sources. There’s good technology to remove soot and real pollution from coal plants and it’s easier to use at 1,000 plants than in 1,000,000 homes.
But black carbon probably has a negligible role in climate. CO2 is supposedly number one and its role is negligible, so how small is the role of #2?
