    Are there no editors at NYT to tell reporters to stop saying stupid stuff?

  2. The first problem is that sea-level rise has slowed from a rate that didn’t matter to a rate that matters less.
    The second problem is maintaining some kind of freeboard — building at a slight elevation or otherwise adapting to protect the development. Tidal surges and storm surges have been around for millenia.
    People choose to settle on coasts for a lot of reasons. Since the ocean is predictably changeable, people had better plan accordingly. Climate change is not a factor.
