The objections to the Keystone pipeline are not about the environmental impacts. They are about the increased affordability and profitability of fossil fuels. Anything that makes cheap energy more available to the general population is a threat to the boutique fuel industry that depends on feeding at the trough of public funding. But as is typical of the Progressive control freaks, they have enough sense to know that if their real goals (micromanagement of EVERBODY else) become widely known, they are finished.
