Not that close to the southern tip of Texas. About a third of the way up the coastline from Brownsville (the tip).
That said, warm in Texas? Who’da thunk it? It does actually snow there every decade or so.
Corpus Christi is near the southern tip of Texas, only a little north of the Tropic. It’s a port city. It rarely gets cold there and occassional warm spells in January there would be normal. I’ve seen temps around 90 in Orange County, CA, in January and that was 40 years ago. They were outlier days but they happened.
Oh, pardon me, brutal cold is just weather but anything higher than average is climate change. I fergot.
