The First Circuit Court of Appeals upholds an NRC decision in favor of NextEra Energy’s Seabrook nuke plant and trashes wind at the same time.

The Green Left NGOs “were not entitled to have a hearing on the merits about their contention that generation of electricity from offshore wind was a reasonable alternative source of baseload energy to the relicensing of Seabrook.” Wow. That’s a slap in the face.
“[W]ind power is not suitable for baseload generation because of its intermittent nature. That intermittent nature meant that there had to be energy storage mechanisms. Energy storage mechanisms are too expensive to resolve the problem of intermittency and the technology for the generation of offshore wind energy is “not sufficiently demonstrated at this time.””
Beauty.
