I know serious wildfires happen in privately-owned timber country, but I have the idea that they are quite rare. Coincidence?
I agree with techgm. Much of the news coming out on these fires indicates the government is completely irrational about clearing trees and brush. People have gone to jail for clearing areas the government said no to–even if a firebreak was created. Rules are important, people are not.

Neither. It’s just that lousy science and lousy forestry management happen to coincide.
“Is climate change fanning the flames? Or are the fires making climate change worse?” Um, no. Next question, please.
