And does bad weather simply postpone the violence?
Besides, the Center “for” American Progress is against both America and Progress.
Some people get more irritable during warmer weather and street gangs are more active when it’s warmer, at least to a point. But without a weather trend, you can’t trend the violence against the weather trend.
It would be interesting to take several large cities and look at the rate of violent crime against temps. I think there are too many factors to really make a valid correlation, but it might be curvilinear — that is, violence increases in street activity until it’s too dang hot for the hoods to go outside and then it falls off again. That’s plausible but I don’t know of any evidence that supports it.
