Romney: All Obama-era regulations to be reviewed — EPA Utility MACT ‘perfect example of a rule that makes no sense’

In a Feb. 27 letter, the West Virginia Coal Association asked Mitt Romney:

The current US EPA has promulgated several rules that are debilitating to those who generate electricity by burning coal that will result in raising everyone’s electricity bill. How would you address these recently promulgated rules?

Romney responded:

I will immediately initiate review of all major Obama-era regulations, and repeal those that impose an undue burden on economic growth and job creation. The Utility MACT [also called the “Mercury Air Toxics Standard” (MATS) by the EPA] is a perfect example of a rule that makes absolutely no economic sense, costing billions of dollars a year while achieving barely any relevant benefits at all.
