Will it be lights out for Upton?

Former Michigan state Rep. Jack Hoogendyk (R) is taking aim at Energy and Commerce Chairman Fred Upton (R-Mich.) over his 2007 support for lighting efficiency standards, although Upton has since reversed his stance.
Hoogendyk is making his second bid against Upton after losing the GOP primary for the state’s 6th District in 2010, when he ran from the right against the incumbent and earned 43 percent of the vote despite being heavily outspent.
In an email message to supporters, Hoogendyk highlighted Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels’ (R) recent GOP response to the State of the Union address, in which he mentioned the 2007 rules that require light bulbs to be more energy efficient as of this year.
“Left to ourselves, we might pick the wrong health insurance, the wrong mortgage, the wrong school for our kids; why, unless they stop us, we might pick the wrong light bulb!” Daniels said in a snippet of the speech sent out by Hoogendyk’s campaign…
The damage has already been done. Trip the lever, he’s out….
