Boston Herald: Rep. Markey’s gas pains

“What has Rep. Ed Markey (D-Mass.) got against good sense?”

The Boston Herald editorializes,

Earlier this month, Markey wrote Energy Secretary Steven Chu to fret about rising exports of natural gas. Markey, senior Democrat on the House Natural Resources Committee, said he feared exports would “raise energy costs for American consumers, reduce the global competitiveness of American businesses, make us more dependent on foreign sources of energy, and slow our transition away from fossil fuels.”

That’s astonishing from a member who co-sponsored the House “cap-and-trade” legislation, which would have raised all energy prices by far more than the export of some natural gas…
