Stern: US not ‘automatically allergic’ to climate treaty

We suppose that depends on who “US” is.

Climatewire reports that Todd Stern, Obama’s special envoy for climate change, said,

The United States is not “automatically allergic” to negotiating a legally binding climate treaty, Stern said, but he added, “it’s premature to decide what the ultimate legal form might be until you have a better sense of what the content would be.”

Perhaps the Obama administration isn’t “allergic”, but the Senate will be — and that’s the “US” that matters.

  1. One of the worst mosquito attacks I have ever suffered was in Mammoth Lakes California where the Mosquitos breed in the snow. mammoth Lakes is in the eastern High Sierra mountains where spring doesn’t really come until July. The last snowfall is typically inMay or June. By August the Mosquitos are horrible. I am told that they lay their eggs in the snow and the eggs hatch when the snow melts. So colder or warmer, there are plenty of Mosquitos.
