Rep. Ed Markey ought to listen to himself sometime.
At today’s Solyndra hearing, Rep. Ed Markey ranted about how many jobs are in the solar and wind industries as compared to the coal industry.
Markey said that while the coal and wind industries only have 85,000 employees each, the solar industry employs 100,000.
But the coal industry and its paltry 85,000 employees fuel 45% of U.S. electricity generation. Wind provides only about 2% and solar provides less than 1%.
On a per-employee basis, the coal industry is about 22.5 times more efficient than the wind industry and 45+ times more efficient than the solar industry.
