Self-proclaimed “skeptical environmentalist” Bjorn Lomborg is uttering untruths about genuine skeptics while promoting his new movie “Cool It.”
Appearing on Fox Business Channel last Friday, Lomborg was asked by host Stuart Varney whether humans were causing [catastrophic] global warming. “Is it us? Is human beings who are doing this?,” implored Varney.
The skeptical environmentalist replied,
I’m an economist. If you look, if you ask some of the smartest scientists, even very skeptical scientists like Dick Lindzen from MIT or Pat Michaels, they tell us global warming is happening and it is manmade. But the point is it’s not the end of the world as it’s been told.
Surprised to hear that the ranks of the skeptics had been thinned of two of its stars, I checked wth Lindzen and Michaels.
Lindzen told me,
My statement has always been that there has probably been some increase in global mean temperature anomaly and that man’s activities make some contribution to this. From what I’ve seen, Lomborg probably doesn’t understand that this is profoundly different from what he claims I am saying.
Michaels told me that while he has always believed that manmade greenhouse gas emissions have some effect on global climate, that effect is not great or even necessarily harmful.
Being an economist, as Lomborg claims, does not excuse him from culpability for such a flagrant misstatement.
The reality about Lomborg is that he is more like Al Gore in relevant part than not. Gore believes that manmade CO2 emissions are a problem and need to be reduced/eliminated. So does Lomborg. Gore says untrue things about skeptics. So does Lomborg. Lomborg says that alarmists should stop scaring children about global warming. Accordingly, in “Cool It,” he seems to have produced little more than “An Inconvenient Truth (Children’s Edition)”.
Here’s how I distinguish Gore from Lomborg. Gore is a scowling, straight, fat carnivore with dark hair. Lomborg is not.
Lomborg’s schtick is glibly surfing the global warming alarmist wave as a T-shirted, Scandanavian Greenpeace-turncoat-cum-skeptic-poseur. So far, only genuine skeptics have clued into to his scam, but no longer. As Hearst movie reviewer Amy Biancolli put it,
But it’s also hard to shake the sense that Lomborg is promoting more than just a different perspective on climate debate. He’s promoting his book – and himself.

These people have ripped off America for $106 billion. Michael Mann got $19 million recently. The Attorney General of VA is suing him for $500,000 he ripped off from the University of VA.
Petroleum is 84% carbon, coal is even more. Control and taxing of carbon will give the elected ruling class more power than anything since the signing of the Magna Carta in 1215 AD which was coincidentally in a period like that the Greens are “fearing” and Michael Mann erased to make the “Hockey Stick.” It was the Medieval Warming, a time of peace and prosperity with an abundance of grain in Europe, Vikings herding sheep in Greenland instead of pillaging Europe,but we are suppose to fear. It is all about money and it is just that simple.
So, what is Lomborg saying the answer is? I could research it myself, but if you guys can enlighten me easily, I’d prefer to not have to sift through rubbish today. 🙂
Who paid the hundreds of thousands of Dollars for his film? What Lindzen said to him was that man makes a very small contribution. Of the 166 gigatons of new CO2 in the atmosphere only six is from man and 1.2 of that is by the US. CO2 is responsible for 0.1% of all atmospheric heating so cutting us by the 80% the AGW people want will only reduce the heating by 0.0007%! This is not even a bad joke; it is a crime that should be punishable by death.
the guy is a plant he is trying to convince us that warming is mans fault it is not mans fault it is normal climate change that happens and there is nothing we can do about it. watch down the road if they can convince enough people they will do cap an trade , these people are evil and want to rule the world from a pedestal on high. also they want all the money . he needs to stick to being a economist as he is not convinced any one about man warming the world. Where did he get most scientist s agree at is what I want to know, because most of them do not agree with man made warming.
Bjorn Lomborg is like Gordon Ramsay, the celebrity chef. More interested in fame & notoriety and willing to cook anything up to be in front of the camera.
CO2 is a trace gas in the atmosphere and insignificant by definition. Water vapor is seven times better an absorber of IR (heat energy) and has 80 times as many molecules making 560 times the heating effect! Water vapor is thus responsible for 99.9% of all atmospheric heating. Why should we ruin our economy and starve billions of people for this?
