Daily Kos Editor Says Skeptics Should Commit Suicide

A Daily Kos contributing editor has suggested that “Steve Milloy and his buddies” commit suicide or be euthanized apparently for the crime of opposing global warming alarmism.

Amid a rant on his Examiner.com blog about skeptics “carpet-bomb[ing] newspaper editorial pages with climate change disinformation…], Steven Alexander, who writes for Daily Kos under the nom-de-plume “Darksyde,” wrote that,

… if only Milloy and his buddies could check into one of the [Soylent Corporation’s] lovely medical suites for a short nature movie and a glass of wine…

The reference is to the assisted suicide scene in the 1973 movie Soylent Green, starring Charlton Heston.

The Clarity Digital Group, which owns Examiner.com, removed the offensive posting immediately upon notification.

Former Washington Post reporter David Weigel was recently fired from the paper for privately writing on the Journolist listserv that Matt Drudge should “… set himself on fire.”

Now Alexander has publicly wished a similar fate for climate skeptics.

If you wonder why the skeptics fight so vigorously against the greenshirts, the sort of intolerance exhibited by Alexander over a mere difference in opinion is one reason. God help us all, if they prevail.

  1. This extreme view of the Daily Kos is totally stupid, based on lack of knowledge on how the Earth really works. We are in a glacial climate with ice at both poles. We have had 5 major 100,000 year glaciations in the past 800,000 years and just melted back the 5th (Wisconsin stage)10 thousand
years ago, a mere moment of geological time. Our average world temperature is several deg.C lower than it was 50 million years ago. Plate tectonics broke up a well established tropical ocean currrent that had been keeping our polar regions warm enough to accommodate the dinosaurs. So, this climate, so dear to the heart of greenies, with ice in both polar regions, is poised for another glaciation event, far more likely than than overheating, a condition unknown in studies of ancient climates. Greenies, you are trying to walk without a leg to stand on and only chutzpah for support.

  2. this is out of context but I can not log in, it keeps going back to my profile and won’t let me return to this page . I am trying to comment on an article about the Times writing about the rising sea levels in Virginia . All I get is sent to my profile page and when I hit the back button it goes to log in again .So if you see this Mr. Miloy, help !

  3. OK, since you asked.

“Global Warming” from “greenhouse” gases supposedly “traps” heat in the troposphere (lower atmosphere), and simultaneously, the stratosphere cools (because, there is not so much heat from the troposphere to warm the stratosphere.)

Stratosphere cooling, troposphere warming, but the atmosphere conducts heat –

meaning that heat moved from a cool stratosphere to a warmer troposphere, without expending work.

That is an absolute violation of the second law of thermodynamics.

    Go ahead and refute it.

Nobody has yet, but we keep on the same merry-go-round as if the whole farce was true.

    Why? That’s a better question.

  4. Now are you wishing him chickenpox or smallpox?

Wishing people were dead to reply to someone you disagree with who you believe wished someone were dead is a strange way of proving your point, Einstein.

See how easy it is for the words to flow from your fingers in your post
and how easy it is to vilify in others when you’re on opposite sides of the fence.

The Kos guy is employing sarcasm, it’s quite clear. Are you?

  5. I’m a Green who listens to NPR but has nothing to do with the NJ Teacher’s Union. You’re confused.
    Wishing you were dead?
Oh c’mon. I’ve been threatened as an environmentalist over the phone, at work no less, and never took it seriously so why are you in a tizzy over mere words on the internet.

Have you guys ever heard of sarcasm?
Did they stop teaching that or does the right have a genetic inability to understand it? Try Glenn Beck.

  6. What shall we call you then? Pussy is an insult to women, and an indication of your gender and attitude to your mother so how about Ignoramous?

Someone who has to resort to threats of physical violence, much less inane name calling probably doesn’t have much of an educated opinion on scientific matters in the first place, like mr. laws of thermodynamics above, so I await your fist’s temper tantrum with an amused smile.

  7. Well, I know this for sure: Steve Milloy has a far finer, fuller and better sense of humor than those totalitarians on the Left.

And it’s a dubious proposition that any of them do have a sense of humor.

  11. You know, goons like the Kos kidds have murdered over 200 million people in the 20th century, all in the pursuit of perfection.

    Quite a record.

  12. One would think that if a person were truly concerned about the impact of human existence on the environment that they should consider sacrificing themselves to their cause. Oddly enough, enviros always want someone else to make the sacrifice. I thought about suicide once, and then I thought about all those people who deserve it so much more than I.

  13. This Daily Kos editor seems like a nice chap! It would seem that his schooling lacked teaching in both science and good manners. A failed education. Shame. If he would like a discussion about AGW and the greenhouse effect, in a sane and calm manner, I would be pleased to comply. But let us start with violations of the laws of thermodynamics which negate the greenhouse effect.
I expect this chap would scream from behind the screens of his so called newspaper but never face any detractor. The signs of the cowardly bully.

  14. Seems to me that people on the left have big mouthes because nobody calls them on their bullshit. I am waiting for some environsissy to cal me this so I can shove my fist down their throat. Slap a pussy like this once and they tend to mind their manners.

  15. And someone thought that saying a bounty should be on the heads of environmentalists was a bad idea , and I think it would be a bad idea also . but these people are playing hard ball and from sabotage to lying, they do it because the ends justify the means. A pox on this guy for sure he is out of line big time.

  16. Seems to be the trend really. Disagree with the left, the Greens, NPR, the Socialists, NJ Teacher’s Unions or whomever it is this week and they wish for you to be dead. Wait, those are all the same groups aren’t they?

Everyone I know wants more information, more discussion, more options, more freedom and more speech. Not less. No one I know has talked about their opponents deaths.

Seems to indicate who is more secure in their positions as well.

  17. It seems most likely to me that this poor misguided idiot has bet the farm on AGW. This miserable hypothesis is so bad that over $30 billion Gov’t funded research has produced no empirical evidence whatever to validate it. What does it require to show these numbskulls that it is high time they stop beating this dead horse? After you have spent the rest of the world’s money geoengineering the world climate by suppressing greenhouse gases, I suggest you throw your carcasses into crevasses of the next glacier that comes rumbling over the horizon. Or, let me see your proof that the Holocene is not just another Pleistocene Interglacial Period.
