California AG tries to sabotage anti-cap-and-trade ballot initiative

California attorney general Jerry Brown is trying to sabotage the state anti-cap-and-trade ballot initiative by changing its name.

The ballot initiative would rollback the California cap-and-trade law (AB 32) pending a decline in state unemployment.

The original name of the ballot initiative was the:

California Jobs Initiative

The initiative’s new Brown-ized name is the:

Suspends Air Pollution Control Laws Requiring Major Polluters To Report And Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions That Cause Global Warming Until Unemployment Drops Below Specified Level For Full Year Initiative

Who wouldn’t vote for that?

The official announcement is below:

25 February 2010 – Update

Assemblyman Dan Logue, along with Congressman Tom McClintock and
Edward J. Costa INITIATIVE –

Received by Attorney General Office 25 November 2009- assigned number 09-0094 to the initiative titled California Jobs Initiative

On 03 February 2010, was renamed by Attorney General Jerry Brown to:

SUSPENDS AIR POLLUTION CONTROL LAWS REQUIRING MAJOR POLLUTERS TO REPORT AND REDUCE GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSIONS THAT CAUSE GLOBAL WARMING UNTIL UNEMPLOYMENT DROPS BELOW SPECIFIED LEVEL FOR FULL YEAR. INITIATIVE STATUTE.

The INITIATIVE is to SUSPEND implementation of AB 32 (Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006) until unemployment in California drops below 5.5% for four consecutive quarters; it also prevents any agency from implementing any regulation of AB 32.

Negotiations are underway to modify the title authored by Attorney General Brown to more satisfactorily and truthfully reflect what the INITIATIVE really is intended.

  1. Duh.

This is all just part of California’s “GROSSLY INHIBITS PROGRESS, PERSONAL WEALTH, UPWARD CLASS-MOBILITY, ENTREPRENEURSHIP PERSONAL CHOICE AND BREATHING UNTIL SUCH A TIME THAT COMPLETE COMMUNIST CONTROL CAN BE DEMONSTRATED FOR FOUR CONSECUTIVE QUARTERS (AND WE CAN TAX CIGARETTES EVEN MORE)” Initiative.

California is an intellectual wasteland. People here are so blinded by self worship that anything that is pitched to them as “if you support this it will make you look like the benevolent, righteous genius that you believe yourself to be” is guaranteed to be written into law. And no matter how many times the ACTUAL outcome is Enron robbing you blind, rolling blackouts, or annual $40 billion budget deficits, people will still lick their chops waiting to be fed the next ego-boosting poop-nugget.

You have to realize that, like it or not, from a political perspective this is brilliant. The pols here know that the nature of denial is such that people will suffer horrible consequences rather than admit that they have, or have caused a problem. Quite to the contrary, they will suffer 10 new problems just to be TOLD that they solved one, even if it never existed. So the pols concoct some scheme to usurp power and wealth for them and their frieds. They go around giving “doublespeeches” telling everyone how an obvious cash grab will actually save some endagered this, or oppressed that. And everyone puts on the blinders, falls back into their self love, and vote themselves yet another ego-boosting catastrophe. Because at least some paid liar will tell them they are good people for doing so. And this is far more preferable than facing the REAL and major problems that they have created for this state.

Ah yes California. The land where everyone is a perfect, righteous genius, just ask them…

  2. Clever shit-heel, isn’t he?

Hey, the faster they kill the economy, the faster the rest of us can bail them out and they can give away more stuff.
