More idiotic, budget choking, pander-to-the-base, thinking (or lack thereof) by Obama. With the economy in shambles, national parks facing budget slashes, and after ATV industry has already kowtowed to this issue enough by all but eliminating 2 stroke enginges, let’s make a decision that kicks both parties in the nads.
Apparently the best way to keep the support of a willing subject, in this case the ATV industry, is to further villify them and choke off their business prospects. And the best way to save National Parks is to make rules preventing more people from enjoying them.
But all of this is necessary evil. We all know Yosemite is a very fragile place that must be protected. It’s not like its, say, the biggest volcano in the world. Its not like we are 100% sure that at some point between now and the end of the world, it will erupt and basically bring about the end of human life as we know it. Fact is we’re only about 99% sure. And it’s not like Yellowstone couldn’t do more damage to our environment in two minutes than all the snowmobiles in the world lit on fire could to in a thousand years. Oh no wait…YES in fact it is EXACTLY LIKE THAT!!!
