John Kerry: Darfur caused by CO2

At a Council of Foreign Relations meeting last month, Sen. John Kerry (D-Teresa’s skirt) said, according to ClimateWire:

Almost indescribable, catastrophic things can happen” should concentrations of carbon dioxide in the Earth’s atmosphere exceed the “tipping point” of 450 parts per million, Kerry said at the meeting. “The crisis in Darfur, Sudan, is but one example of how climate change can contribute to a more dangerous world.

Also according to the report,

Kerry noted that so-called “environmentally displaced persons” may soon outnumber war refugees but added that the United States faces other climate-related security risks beyond refugee crises.

Earth to Sen. Kerry: Drought is a weather event, not climate change. The Darfur crisis involves civil war not carbon dioxide.

BTW, let’s not forget that Sen. Kerry previously said that the Waxman-Markey bill won’t work.

  1. You might be surprised to hear Senator Kerry’s speech, he qualified that statement with:

“I’d be the first to acknowledge, the individual data points may sometimes be murky. But the pattern they create is irrefutably clear: We don’t know if Hurricane Katrina was caused by climate change, but we do know that we are rapidly heading for a world where climate change causes worse Katrinas. We don’t know with certainty whether climate change pushed Darfur over the edge, but we do know that it will cause more tension just like we’ve seen in Darfur. ”

The source of Kerry’s information was government reports – done when Bush was President, so you can’t blame Obama or Kerry.

“In 2007, eleven former Admirals and high-ranking generals issued a report from the Center for Naval Analysis warning that climate change is a “threat multiplier” with “the potential to create sustained natural and humanitarian disasters on a scale far beyond those we see today.” In 2008, a National Intelligence Assessment echoed these warnings from inside our government. General Anthony Zinni, former commander of our forces in the Middle East, was characteristically blunt in assessing the threat. He warned that without action-and I quote-“we will pay the price later in military terms. And that will involve human lives. There will be a human toll.”

As to the comments, Kerry did not broker the sale of nuclear technology to NK. In fact, Kerry investigated BCCI, which funded the Pakistani bomb. Morgenthau, the NYC DA, used Kerry’s information to close BCCI. It was the A Q Khan group that sold nuclear technology to NK and other rogue nations. Do you know that investigating how they circumvented the non-proliferation rules and investigating if they were spreading it was the number one item on the list of 20 things that should be done of the final BCCI report – issued when the sub-committee was ended. Neither GHWB or Clinton acted on this.

PS He is (D,MA) and we Democrats are happy to claim him.

  2. I will blame Co2 on his not having a brain , he breathed in Co2 and exhaled H2o to many times .

  3. anyon who gives himself a wound or claims a hang nail in order to get a medal cannot be taken seriously.

  4. So everyone is clear, this is the man that brokered the sale of our nuclear technology to China. Coincidentally, not long before N. Korea started their nuclear program. Hmmmm.

NOW he’s worried about the consequences of actions like breathing and driving a car.

Proof that you can look like a genius and a good guy if you stand next to Ted Kennedy long enough…

  5. Please don’t give him any ideas, the man hasn’t had an original thought in decades.
