This memo from the Minority Staff of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee indicates that Republicans are finally starting to understand that big business is the enemy of taxpayers, consumers and, well, freedom itself, when global warming is concerned.
By themselves, Al Gore and the greens lack the credibility and the lobbyists to put the carbon choke-hold on our economy. But big business — like the members of the U.S. Climate Action Partnership — are providing what the Gore-greens lack.
Moreover, USCAP members are doing their best to silence business lobby groups that should be leading the fight against global warming legislation like the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and Business Roundtable.

Why are you surprised about big business? After all, a competition is only as beneficial as the judges are just. In order to establish a just competition, the people must organize around their common interest. The people must establish a government with authority to promote the general welfare, in the context of which a fair market can be established!
I have long said that the with the GOP’s “pro-business” position is that it approaches the idea of the free market in a totally incorrect, un-free way. They should be pro-MARKET-because business are often eager to get in bed with the government to crush competition-witness Fascist Italy, or Obama’s America (Generalissimo Electric anyone?).
Business managers are not Capitalists. Capitalism favors consumers and forces business to provide the products and services people want. Under capitalism, the business must risk their investment and take a chance they will be successful.
But business is all about reducing risk. So working with government is a great way to reduce risk and potentially regulate your competitors out of business. Get laws passed that help yourself and block others.
When it comes to climate change (or most any other “BIG” issue), you can expect businesses to snuggle up with the corrupt politicians so that the businesses can lower risk or increase profits.
The combination of big business with big government is fascism — exactly where Obama and the Democrats are rushing to take us.
But, as Jonah Goldberg writes in LIberal Fascism: The Secret Hisotry of the American Left from Mussolini to the Politics of Meaning, the U.S. will have “fascism with a smiley face.”
“Crony capitalism” works just as well as “corpocracy.”
I’ve come to the conclusion that any corporate or business leader is characterized as being a “pragmatist” about these Gorebull Warming or “Climate Change”, it really means that said leader is without principle. This is especially the case when ostensibly science-based companies, i.e. virtually all manufacturers: autos, chemicals, plastics, etc., seem to have forsworn the scientific method and support for free markets.
I’m disgusted.
