Radical environmentalism growing, report warns; sparks Greenpeace dismissal

There is a “growing radicalized environmentalist faction” in Canada that is opposed to the country’s energy sector policies, warns a newly declassified intelligence report. Continue reading

Mark W. Hendrickson: A Book Review of Brian Sussman’s “Eco-Tyranny”

In “Eco-Tyranny,” author Brian Sussman sounds a timely and important warning: The radical “greens” are not in retreat. With the defeat of cap-and-trade legislation in 2010 and the increasingly discredited alarmist theory of anthropogenic global warming, the greens may have lowered their public profile; however, with the full cooperation of the Obama administration, they are forging ahead with their illiberal agenda of gaining ever more control over the American economy and people. LNP promises to develop Cape York as wild rivers laws buried

SIGNATURE wild river preservation laws blamed for putting vast tracts of Queensland in economic mothballs are to be scrapped in favour of a regime that encourages mining and development.

Campbell Newman’s Liberal National Party government will begin the process of repealing the laws on Cape York Peninsula, the scene of a bitter dispute between environmentalists who backed the measures and indigenous interests that claimed they strangled the economic life of local communities. Researchers confirm link between economy, ‘green’ advertising

Demonstrating once again that “greenery” is reliant on affordability (making it a luxury good?). Whatever, only societies generating a societal surplus can afford environmentalism. I bet it really burns anti-capitalist greenies that they and their “issues” are completely dependent on wealth generation. Just look what a great job the US EPA is doing of destroying US environmentalism by assaulting the cheap abundant energy on which America’s wealth generation depends.

The amount of “green” advertising rises and falls in conjunction with key indicators of economic growth. That’s what three Penn State researchers found when they examined 30 years of environmental advertising in National Geographic Magazine, America’s leading nature publication, and compared it to what was happening with the gross domestic product at various points in time.Continue reading

Rachel Swaffer: Environmental Extremists Exposed as Political Goliaths

In 2010 the Center for Responsive Politics reported that in the past 20 years corporate oil interests had spent a combined $250 million dollars on political activism. Environmentalists were, as was intended, outraged that the philistine big oil interest was buying and bullying its way into a political advantage. Continue reading

Donna Laframboise: Green Death Threats: ‘Change or Die’

The key message of today’s environmentalists is: Accept our worldview, submit to our solutions – or else. This is, let us be blunt, a death threat. It is the voice of an extortionist. Continue reading

That’d be right – logging needed to protect… Northern Spotted Owl

Oh, this is rich. After using the damned owl to decimate logging and virtually kill the industry it turns out “logging, thinning, or other fuel reduction activities in areas with high fire risk would be more than offset by improved forest health and fire-resistance characteristics, the scientists said, which allow more spotted owl habitat to survive in later decades“. Tim Worstall: Drought, Climate Change, Corn Prices, Ethanol and Biofuels

Jeff Sonderman: Journalists beware: Shell Arctic hoax signals move from subtle spin to activist deception

Roger Jones: Little by little: the benefits of Australian climate policy

Pffthrrrrbt! Jones takes a great example of cooperative community effort for genuine environmental improvement and maliciously couples it to an environmental assault.

The one universally beneficial byproduct of human activity has been the restoration to the biosphere of previously lost carbon, albeit an incidental and accidental benefit. Jones owes landcare groups everywhere an abject apology for so impugning their efforts.

For him to so debase their genuine love of the environment by associating it with such a stupid and superstitious activity as limiting emission of an environmental resource at so enormous an expense that it will reduce society’s capacity for real environmental improvement is appalling.

Landcare is an honest effort at improving the environment and providing benefit for people too. Carbon constraint is rank misanthropy hiding behind the excuse of fantasies generated by PlayStation® climatology. It’s only “use” is to inhibit humanity. How dare he associate the two! Continue reading

Aus: Science subject comes under fire

Oh no! It actually contains science rather than green dogma! What can we do? Who can we telephone?

Actually we might applaude the practicality and hope that green stupidity finally dies its long overdue death. There’s no place in education for misanthropy. Continue reading

Another flight of fancy: The Ecology of Disease

THERE’S a term biologists and economists use these days — ecosystem services — which refers to the many ways nature supports the human endeavor. Forests filter the water we drink, for example, and birds and bees pollinate crops, both of which have substantial economic as well as biological value.

Actually “nature” never does anything to “provide services” – that’s an artificial human construct. We exploit bees doing what they do for our advantage but that does not mean “nature” is “providing” any sort of service at all. We are simply good at exploiting that which we find around us and/or altering it to better suit ourselves. It is extremely foolish to anthropomorphize the unimproved environment and pretend it is “serving us”. What you see is what you get – exploit it or improve it because it is a dangerous and hostile environment in its unimproved state. Continue reading
