Critics Say California Law Hurts Effort to Add Jobs

Environmentalists in this greenest of places call the California Environmental Quality Act the state’s most powerful environmental protection, a model for the nation credited with preserving lush wetlands and keeping condominiums off the slopes of the Sierra Nevada.

But the landmark law passed in 1970 has also been increasingly abused, opening the door to lawsuits — sometimes brought by business competitors or for reasons unrelated to the environment — that, regardless of their merit, can delay even green development projects for years or sometimes kill them completely. UNFCCC Newsletter #31

It is not true that UNFCCC stands for “United Nations for Союз Советских Социалистических” (UN for Soyuz Sovetskikh Sotsialisticheskikh or Union of People’s Councils). In fact it is supposed to be the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and entirely coincidental that the organization is densely populated with anti-democratic big “S” Socialist anti-capitalist zealots. Roger Scruton: How to Think Seriously About the Planet: The Case for an Environmental Conservatism

The environment has long been the undisputed territory of the political Left, which casts international capitalism, consumerism, and the over-exploitation of natural resources as the principle threats to the planet, and sees top-down interventions as the most effective solution. Continue reading

Researchers confirm link between economy, ‘green’ advertising

Demonstrating once again that “greenery” is reliant on affordability (making it a luxury good?). Whatever, only societies generating a societal surplus can afford environmentalism. I bet it really burns anti-capitalist greenies that they and their “issues” are completely dependent on wealth generation. Just look what a great job the US EPA is doing of destroying US environmentalism by assaulting the cheap abundant energy on which America’s wealth generation depends.

The amount of “green” advertising rises and falls in conjunction with key indicators of economic growth. That’s what three Penn State researchers found when they examined 30 years of environmental advertising in National Geographic Magazine, America’s leading nature publication, and compared it to what was happening with the gross domestic product at various points in time.Continue reading

When reading this book, I had two feelings that I often have when reading Desrochers and Shimizu’s work–’Why was I never taught this?’ and ‘Everybody need to know this!’ …. The Locavore’s Dilemma will give you an appreciation of the unappreciated glory that is capitalist agriculture, which is responsible for the fact that you are alive, will live a long time, and in greater health than nearly anyone in history.Continue reading
