Perpetual motion

Reports of the Naval Research Laboratory’s sea water to avgas were perpetual motion stories that ran up on the shoals of the laws of Thermodynamics.

American Spectator has an article that covers the press frenzy on “free” hydrocarbons from sea water.  A number of really smart news outlets said navy could get 100% of it’s fuel requirements this way and not need oil.  Quite a number of renewable energy projects get reported as though the Laws of Thermodynamics are suggestions, rather than the unforgiving mistresses they are.
