Coal Ash Disposal now in the Spotlight

Duke Energy has 12 electric generating plants in North Carolina with coal ash ponds.

A Judge has ordered a remedy.

  1. Close the Coal plants down and listen to the howls from the highly populated east coast and then the lake States. Electric rates will go up by 3 or 4 times – AC was $ 200 per hot month now $ 600 or $ 800? Then how about heating costs now at $ 600 to $ 800. Yes, the E=GREENS will be run out of the those States in hours not days.

  2. I don’t think we’ll see a lot of new coal plants. For the moment, natural gas is cheaper than coal. Easier to extract. Easier to transport. Burns cleaner. Costs less.
