Ovarian Cancer Risk

The BRCA marker for risk of ovarian cancer is reported by oncologists to be compelling.

Oncologists are now moving toward recommending prophylactic oophorectomy for carriers of the BRCA mutation. This quantitative assessment of risk is a strong argument for oophorectomy.

    Umm, shouldn’t removing the oprgans have reduced the risk of cancer of those organs by 100% to ZERO!?!? Obviously I am not understanding something here.
