No US/FDA approved drug? If you’ve got connections, they’ll authorize a foreign import

There’s a meningitis outbreak at Princeton Univ. in NJ. There’s no US approved drug to treat this strain (“B”). But with at least seven infected students so far (and some heavy duty alumni, including the First Lady), the FDA is allowing them to bring in “Bexsera, a vaccine against N. meningitidis serogroup B only approved for use in Europe and Australia,”.
So if it’s good enough for the rest of the world, why has the FDA been dragging its feet? And the same for many, many, other drugs that other countries have deemed safe and effective?

  1. So, if you are outside the Princeton community and get this strain, you die because it is not approved for use in the US if you are not among the Princeton elite?

  2. And now it’s even getting better, with the “natural” health folk weighing in:
“Princeton to use students as vaccine experiment subjects with rollout of non-approved meningitis vaccine ”
” Princeton University is poised to move forward on a plan that would transform the entire student body into human guinea pigs for a campus-wide vaccine medical experiment. Responding to nothing more than a handful of students contracting mild meningitis (and then fully recovering), Princeton now wants to inject ALL students with a vaccine that isn’t even approved for use in the United States, thereby making it a vaccine experiment with unknown outcomes that must, by definition, include risk”

  3. More junk medicine. Most pills only hide symptoms and cure nothing. Linus Pauling, a 2 time Nobel Prize winner, once said that any disease you can think of can be linked to a vitamin and/or mineral deficiency. Manmade vitamins sold in the stores are junk science. They dont work in the human body and can make you sicker. Only the natural ones work. Guess there are billions of dollars to be made by keeping you sick.

  4. Yeah, once again the *actual* economic effect of the FDA rears its ugly head- denying medical care to Americans who need it.

  5. I don’t know about Europe but if it has been approved in Australia for Australian use, I can guarantee it is absolutely safe.
Our rigorous testing and controls are even more stringent than your great country.
No guinea pigs at Princeton. They are being given a perfectly safe vaccine.
A pox on the “natural” health folk!

  6. My spouse and I stumbled over here from a different website and thought I may as well
