BOXER RINGS THE BELL ON CLIMATE CHANGE: Sen. Barbara Boxer took to the Senate floor and invoked the Oklahoma tornadoes in her speech on global warming. “This is climate change,” she said. “This is climate change. We were warned about extreme weather. Not just hot weather. But extreme weather. When I had my hearings, when I had the gavel years ago. —It’s been a while — the scientists all agreed that what we’d start to see was extreme weather. And people looked at one another and said ‘what do you mean? It’s gonna get hot?’ Yeah, it’s gonna get hot. But you’re also going to see snow in the summer in some places. You’re gonna have terrible storms. You’re going to have tornados and all the rest. We need to protect our people. That’s our number one obligation and we have to deal with this threat that is upon us and that is gonna get worse and worse though the years.” She also plugged her own bill, cosponsored with Sen. Bernie Sanders that would put a tax on carbon. “Carbon could cost us the planet,” she said. “The least we could do is put a little charge on it so people move to clean energy.”
She needs more tax money.

California has an oddly-distributed population of voters. In particular, the middle-income group is smaller in California than in other states generally (I think New York has the same distortion). Since voters at the higher and lower ends of the income range tend to vote “progressive”, California’s electorate has lost an important moderating influence.

So, yet another politician opens her mouth and shouts to the world what a scientific ignoramus she is. Unfortunately, those who put her in office are also scientifically challenged.
A little tax on carbon so Al and his warming buddies can reap millions while we take it up the old keister.
It’s a new tax they think the people will accept. To date, the Republican House won’t.
1. Warming played no discernible role in the Moore tornado; it happened during an unusually cool spring.
2. Carbon plays no role in warming, according to the empirical evidence of the last century.
3. A carbon tax will have the same effect on weather that “universal” background checks would have on gang violence.
4. A carbon tax would be imposed for the same reason as “universal” background checks: to herd the sheep.
This is why we need a way to expel California from the union.
