Lomborg: Golden rice opponents helped kill 8 million children

“Finally, after 12 years of delay caused by opponents of genetically modified (GM) foods, so-called “golden rice” with vitamin A will be grown in the Philippines. Over those 12 years, about eight million children worldwide died from vitamin A deficiency. Are anti-GM advocates not partly responsible?”

  1. Yes, they are and we should all hold them accountable.

  2. Golden Rice may be a good thing…or it may not..but it certainly wasn’t ready to ‘save the world’ 12 years ago. But even ancient cultures around the world knew how to prevent or cure the problems of night blindness…1000s of years ago.

    If one asks what me might gain, what have we lost should also be asked.
    How is obesity being spread to the third world? By some of the same corporations out to ‘save it’? Why is obesity now often a sign of poverty?
