  1. The use of the words “legitimate media” is a direct attempt to infringe upon the First Amendment. Then when the First Amendment is gone (or marginalized), it will make it much easier to get rid of the 2nd. And when that is gone, the other Amendments will effectively be gone also.

  2. There’s a perfectly good way of getting rid of the 2nd Amendment, if you so desire. That’s start a repeal process that will require 75% of the states to vote in favor of, then a new amendment can be added to the constitution nullifying the 2nd Amendment, and the right to bear arms.
Of course no liberal attempts this, as the new amendment wouldn’t get 20% of the states, and the unpopularity of such an amendment would be obvious.
However, you might remind people of how the constitution is amended since there seems to be some ignorance on the matter. Just tell your anti-gun neighbors to start petitioning for a new amendment and quit screwing around with unconstitutional laws.

  3. Touching on one-shot-one-kill: many ranchers carry something like a Mini-14 all the time to deal with animals like coyotes. Now I’m personally against killing coyotes on sight but then I’m a city boy. At any rate, if a rancher is firing at a coyote, it may easily take eight or ten shots to hit the animal.
Which is tangential. The point of the 2nd Amendment is to keep the government in check by making the people more powerful — preferably through the ballot but keeping “… the blood of tyrants…” as an option.

  4. Another clever aspect to lumping in the hunting aspect of firearms is that hunting is one shot, one kill. (“No one needs ten bullets to kill a deer!” says Cuomo.)

I have a pump shotgun, but for hunting I like my dad’s old 12-gauge breech loader better. It’s lighter, which makes a big difference when you’re slogging a mile or so through snow drifts. The pump gun (Mossberg with eight in the tube +1) is better suited for animals which don’t want to run away and may shoot back, and I keep it loaded.

  5. Politicians, Media, etc. always center their gun control arguments around the right to bear arms in order to mislead the people.
The 2nd amendment prohibits any Infringement of the Right.
That’s what it says, that’s what it means.
Note that the 2nd amendment does not specify the federal government, or the States but simply forbids any interference with the Right. That means no one has the authority or power, not Washington D.C., not the States, not Cities or Municipalities, not Groups, Organizations, Parties or Businesses.
Politicians will continue to claim respect for the 2nd amendment, and will continue to pass laws to interfere with it until the People make it clear that the government is Not Allowed to pass any gun legislation, period.

  6. Howdy Tom
You’re right, but the libs are using hunting to claim they support some use of guns, which is far different from supporting the right to keep and bear arms. The libs are trying to hide a lot of their agenda by sounding all folksy and gun-friendly.
As for why we right-wing gun-clinging nuts think people like Biden are trying to take our guns away, it has something to do with plans to register our guns and prohibit a lot of them and then make it hard to transfer them to anyone else. Somehow we find that these ideas amount to trying to take our guns away.
When the term “gun safety” has become the euphemism for confiscation, the wicked people are hijacking the language and the discourse. “Gun safety” is things like learning proper use, safe storage, responsible teaching of our sons and daughters about conflict resolution that doesn’t involve guns, teaching kids to live honestly instead of as criminals, etc. If a gun owner is responsbile, she could have six AR-15s and a Tommy, with four hundred-round mags for each, and be less of a threat than any gang-banger with a five-shot Saturday night special revolver or a six-shot .380.

  7. I really wish they would stop lumping hunting in there. It has nothing to do with the second amendment. I also wish the media would question all politicians on that. Wishful thinking I guess.
