A “100 year” storm does NOT mean it will be 99 years before we get another one that big. It means there’s a 1% chance it happen again next year. A 25 year storm has a 4% chance in a singe year; a 500 year storm has a 0.2% chance, 1/5 of 1%, of happening in a year.
