No winner in EU carbon storage contest

“This is a slap in the face for EU climate policy,” said Stuart Haszeldine, professor of CCS at Edinburgh University.

“The first round of a European commission contest to fund carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects failed to find a winner, the EU’s executive said on Tuesday, deepening concerns that the technology will not be emerging soon to help cut emissions.” [The Guardian]

    Much of the work available from fuels comes from the transformation of matter from an ordered state in the fuel to a disordered state in a gas. CCS reverses the process. If can be effective only by violating the laws of thermodynamics.
