Higher Gas Tax is needed as the tax gas is in terms of an amount, and not a percentage. Between the effect of inflation and the effect of great automobile efficiency, funds for fixing roads are inadequate.
Not sure how further discouraging driving will raise more money. If there truly is a shortfall of funds for fixing roads (as opposed to more likely mismanagement and corruption), dedicated user fees are a better approach rather than just having consumers fork over more money to a spendthrift federal government.
