Christopher Monckton of Brenchley: Reply to a Climate Extremist

In August 2012, a climate extremist addressed to various skeptical climate researchers what he offensively called “an appeal to you to be reasonable”.

Christopher Monckton of Brenchley replied, whereupon the extremist – unable or unwilling to produce a single scientific argument – said he did not wish to pursue the debate further. This paper is an extended version of the reply to the climate extremist.

  1. “Being reasonable” in political parlance is a synonym for “bipartisanship”. It means the minority should shut the hell up and ‘get along’ with the political agenda of the majority. This is NOT science.

    • We’re getting a lot of the MINORITY demanding consensus, bipartisanship, and compromise. They sure didn’t believe it when they had the House, Senate, and Presidency.

  2. Wow! What a great argument. No wonder the extreme skeptic didn’t want a rematch.

    • Anyone who properly prepares for a debate with Monckton will CANCEL THE DEBATE.

      • Not necessarily, it’s just that there are very few people that could go toe to toe with him in both rhetoric and fact even if the facts were truly in conflict. The overwhelming evidence towards non-catastrophic warming and catastrophic “alternatives” really makes the debate foolish.

      • Exactly. Proper preparation would include viewing/reading him in previous debates. One would quickly realize that spouting talking points will get you supremely embarrassed. The “climate extremist” was reduced to asking Lord Monckton to be reasonable. If he had prepared, he would have known what was going to happen. And, considering his apparent skills, would have canceled.

It must be truly fun to be Monckton.

  3. One wonders if the recipient of this was in any way affected by it. After all, they are on a mission to save the planet.

  4. Well, I would say he was seriously affected. After all, Lord Monckton called him ‘stupid’ so many times, he will probably never recover. Hopefully, he will wait a few weeks before showing his face to the outside world.
I must say, I haven’t heard much on Stern lately. Hopefully he has gone to ground. Stupid is as stupid does and these two join a long list of “STUPID”.
It’s times like these that I rather fancy the return of the lynch mobs.
