Andrew Bolt: Gillard’s plan: cut power prices by frying pensioners

Julia Gillard’s plan to cut power prices is to have more blackouts of the kind that kill pensioners.

Yes indeed: instead of dropping the carbon tax that makes pensioners too scared to turn on the power, she wants to slash spending on infrastructure and have more blackouts, especially on hot days:

  1. Obviously. Pensioners are a drain on society. They don’t contribute and they take resources. So kill them off. (we really need a sarcasm font) Good grief. As a U.S. pensioner … (very hard to remain polite in comments about this)

How do these people get (re-) elected?

It occurs to me that the argument’s already been lost if you have to argue that an energy policy that depends on taking power away might contiribute to a few deaths of the elderly. What about the absurdity of an energy policy that depends on taking power away. In Australia, for crying out loud!.Crikey, did they perform a national lobotomy?
