THE carbon tax would be popular if voters understood how the compensation package worked, according to a new report.
Despite an advertising campaign and ministers promoting tax cuts and welfare increases, Climate Institute chief John Connor says “the message hasn’t got through”.
A poll to be released Tuesday by the institute and conducted by Ipsos Social Research, finds support for the carbon tax package almost doubles when the compensation package is explained.

The message got through loud and clear. We HATE the Carbon Dioxide Tax.
The trouble with John Connor is he mistook double speak for intelligent exchange but forgot to read most Australians’s lips: “We don’t want a carbon dioxide tax”.
Maybe we ought to sent him a memo about the tight hat he is wearing: it’s occluding his hearing.
