Agriculture scientists, biotechnologists and farmers have said that Pakistan desperately needs innovations like biotechnology to address challenges in agriculture as this technology (biotechnology), the fastest adopted crop technology in the world, is capable of ensuring sufficient food for a rapidly growing population.
“In addition to meeting food security challenge, genetically modified/biotech crops offer multiple economic, crop management, productivity, and environmental benefits. Benefits that these crops offer include, but not limited to, better yields and guarding against insect pests and weeds as well as being cost effective and less labour intensive,”they unanimously said.
They made these observations at a seminar titled “Challenges and Opportunities in Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) for Agriculture”. The event was attended by a large number of progressive farmers, media professionals and students of UAF.

“Farmers Associate Pakistan (FAP) President Dr Tariq Bucha was of the view that policy-makers in the country were real obstacle in development of agriculture in the country.”
Western civ has spread to the east.
BTW . . . if Pakistani agriculture is so bad, how can they have “a rapidly growing population?”
Pakistan desperately needs a religion, or no religion, to bring them out of the Dark Ages!!
Gamecock,
“if Pakistani agriculture is so bad, how can they have “a rapidly growing population?”
High birth rate that substantially exceeds mortality.
It can’t last. If you can’t feed a lot of people, you won’t have a lot of people.
