Krugman: scientists should falsely predict alien invasion

…in order to increase the government spending…

Apparently, global warming hasn’t worked as a tool to promote Krugman’s left-wing agenda (and some agendas that are much worse than his).

So similar types are looking for a more “serious proposal” than the global warming and one of them thinks that the threat of a looming alien invasion is the answer!

  1. I’m starting to think that people who predict global disasters are in reality displaced hollywood script writers that lost their jobs due to the popularity and low production costs of reality based shows.

The alien invasion idea is actually pretty good. After all, such an invasion cannot be ruled out. This means, claims about the invasion are not immediately false. The invasion could actually also be anthropogenic, with us blanketing the Earth with radio signals, which might well elicit their unkindly intentions. And there would be good money behind mitigating radio emissions. Benefits for human health, too, with cell phones causing brain damage and cancer, etc.

  3. If the big green men from planet earth can’t do the job maybe the little green men from Mars can.

  4. Tough sell. Doesn’t readily lend itself to computer modeling and studying tree rings.
