Presumably Tullis is talking about the crap Hansen is making up as he goes along
In fact extreme weather events such as tropical cyclones (hurricanes, in the US) have been at historic lows with atmospheric carbon dioxide at contemporary highs. Jimmy is seriously full of it.
How can NASA physicist and climatologist James E. Hansen, writing in the New York Times today, “say with high confidence” that recent heat waves in Texas and Russia “were not natural events” but actually “caused by human-induced climate change”?
It wasn’t all that long ago that respected MIT atmospheric scientist Kerry Emanuel flatly refuted the notion that you can pinpoint global warming as the cause of an extreme weather event. “It’s statistical nonsense,” he told PBS.

Is not Hansen an astronomer, not a climatologist? Has he any qulifications in climatology other than those self professed?
which means there will still be times when a season is colder than average. When that happens [people] should not say, ‘What happened to global warming?’ It will still be there — they are just looking at natural variability.”
So, let me get this all straight in my brain. When it is warmer than normal that is Global Warming. However, when it is colder than normal, that is just natural variability. Right….and this rocket surgeon claims to be a scientist.
To watch a few videos of him (or the man himself) making a speech or presentation is to known him.
It’s interesting how weather gets reported. Summer 2010: Coldest in many decades in the southern hemisphere. US West coast was unseasonably cold all summer long, San Diego had the coldest August on record. Northern Rockies and central plains were cool to seasonable.
The east coast had above normal temperatures and Los Angeles had one hot week (out of all summer long) with one record high day.
So how was it reported on the MSM and even FOX? All of the unseasonably cold temperatures were downplayed or ignored. The SE US temperatures were all shown as “heat index” numbers, not actual temperatures. Heat index is inflated to reflect humidity and air circulation. The entire weather segments focused on the record “heat index” temperatures in the SE and that one lone day in LA. The record cold temperatures were never mentioned, you had to look it up on the internet or weather channel, sometimes you might see the cool temps in the corner of the map.
