The heavy rain looks set continue for yet another month as the wettest April ever recorded is followed by an equally miserable May.
Forecasters said they were again expecting a higher than average rainfall for this month, as parts of Britain still languished under floods.
The Met Office have issued a severe weather warning for parts of southern England, the midlands and Wales, with up to 40mm of heavy rain expected.
Temperatures will be lower than average in May, the Met Office said, with “unsettled” weather predicted at least in to the middle of the month.
There are still 14 flood warnings in place for the UK, in the south west, East Anglia and midland regions, with a further 75 flood alerts.
The wettest place in Britain was revealed to be a tiny hamlet on Exmoor, which received more than three times the amount of rain expected.

Well. Now we know what is NOT going to happen.
