They’re actually talking about ‘green burials’
Embalming fluid typically contains formaldehyde, a carcinogen, and extended exposure to that fluid can increase a mortician’s risk of myeloid leukemia, according to a 2009 study in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute. Heavy wood or steel caskets and concrete vaults consume natural resources, some of which are shipped from overseas, contributing to emissions of heat-trapping gases.
Cremation, which causes less environmental harm than a conventional burial, is becoming more popular — about 40 percent of those who died in 2010 were cremated, according to the National Funeral Directors Association. But while cremation requires less resources, it releases pollutants, including nitrogen oxides and mercury.
So environmentalists have been promoting — with some success — “green burials.”

Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) for crematoria? It’s the right thing to do. Or, actually, the Left thing to do.
The alleged reason for the heavy concrete vaults was to prevent soil and water contamination from decaying and embalmed corpses. They want to nullify their own rules with more rules.
They are talking about non combustion cremation here. Forgot what with, but basically reducing the corpse to dust with chemicals.
Since cremation pollutes the air and increases our “carbon footprint”. And since chemical cremation uses toxic substances that cannot be released, burial without a vault pollutes the soil and water, burial with a vault uses too much energy and resources, the only solution is for people to be “environmentally responsible” and stop dying.
There is one Green Cemetary in Texas and the loved ones have to dig the grave since power equipment is not allowed. Don’t know what the requirements are for the burial container.
Great news, bury all the greenies now, a big problem solved.
Prof Paul Ehrlich wants to ‘humanely’ cull the human population while it seems the ‘greenies’ need us to stop dying so that we are ‘environmentally responsible’.
There’s no pleasing this lot.
Maybe an acid bath or hydrochloric lavage might be the answer these nutters are looking for.
Why don’t we ask them to try out these methods and if they work i.e. there’s nothing left of them and they can go on the scrap heap to be recycled, then I think we’re onto a winner.
Who do you think should go first? The Pol Pot regime currently governing the UN? The WWF? Greenpeace? The University of East Anglia?
Heavens, there’s so many to choose from. This could be an Olympic sport.
Or maybe, a gladiatorial-type competition where we could just watch them all try different methods for our approval. We would, of course, approve the best method with a thumbs up or down……until they were all GONE.
An even better green burial, which includes recycling, would be the process called Soylent Green…
