I smell a cronyism rat here. While I’m aware of Big Tobacco’s track record of lies, etc., I’m not sure if it is just the blind stupidity of government types or if there is a connection to cigarette companies. From the evidence the snus seem to be a very good step in the right direction. Of course that implies stupid people immediately finding something evil about it.
Snus is about as harm free as a consumer product, let alone a tobacco product, can possibly be and its users know all too well its demonstrated efficacy as a smoking cessation strategy. The EU ban is equal parts blind ignorance and abject cowering in the face of anti-tobacco activists. The situation in the U.S. is not much different although it is not banned, yet. Good to see mention of snus outside the somewhat insular world of its enthusiastic afficionados though.
The linked article mentions sugar as a “flavoring”. Although some varieties of snus are sweeter than others none of which I am aware actually contain sugar.
