Earth Day no deterrent to Canada’s drive for more dirty fossil fuels

And we’d hope it never came under consideration at all – this is the real world we are talking about, where people need reliable, affordable energy and have to pay mortgages, etc, so need real, productive, paying jobs

The first Earth Day, on April 22, 1970, exploded onto the scene as millions of college students held environmental teach-ins. Since then, Earth Day has become an annual and worldwide event.

I’m sure many great things have come from those 42 years of Earth Days. I’ve enjoyed many of them. But when it comes to moving society toward effective action on climate change and its evil twin ocean acidification, these Earth Days have become the equivalent of butterflies splattered on the windshields of our accelerating dirty energy party wagon.

  1. I plan to drive, watch TV, keep my lights on and most importantly, be skeptical of all idealogies during earth day. Should be called Anti Human Day!

  2. Andrew Phillips

Well I looked at his bio and there isn’t really anything about him actually having any degree in any climate science.

So I’m with Cat above lots of lights and loud music for me. Which following my own personal Earth Day tradition will be played by the Electric Light Orchestra.

  3. I hate these earth-worshipping nuts more and more every year. It’s a nice coincidence that every Sunday is the day I fire up my burning barrel and dispose of all the cardboard, paper and plastics that I’ve accumulated during the week. I put the plastic containers and steel cans out to the curb for collection but that’s it. I’ll be damned if I’m going to be their slave and cut all the cardboard up so it fits in the collection box.
They can all go to hell.
