Aus: The increasing costs of carbon propaganda

This latest addition is from consultancy fees for assessing the effectiveness of the government’s $multi-million carbon tax advertising blitz – propaganda don’t come cheap

Adding up carbon tax blitz costs

THE Gillard government has spent hundreds of thousands of dollars measuring the “impact and effectiveness” of its multi-million dollar carbon tax ad blitz.

The government entered into two contracts – costing taxpayers more than $1 million – for market research related to its “clean energy future” advertising campaign.

According to the Department of Climate Change and Energy Efficiency, Hall and Partners Open Mind produced for the government 19 reports that “provided qualitative and quantitative research to inform the development of the campaign, to test creative materials and to measure the impact and effectiveness of the campaign as required by government advertising guidelines”.

That included eight tracking reports.

While the department has revealed the titles of each report, it won’t release the reports.
