The recession isn’t an excuse. It’s a fact. He does not want to admit (even to himself, it seems), that his actions were ineffective or even damaging to the economy in the long term. In fact, in his mind, they were supportive. The automation and ATM quotes were reasonable in-context.
Isolated quotations can’t beat this guy, and you will shoot yourself in the foot trying. If you try to play this game, you have to catch him in an outright lie. The EPA overreach is the only thing truly far enough and clear enough to do so. Everything else is just playing around.
I’ll take it under advisement Ben but as an Aussie looking at the US from the outside in this looks on target. I suspect a lot of independent and undecided voters will see this as yep, completely wrong philosophy, not voting for this guy.
