Yet the Washington Post says that upcoming EPA rules to stop fugitive emissions from drilling,

will help ensure that natural gas contributes to the fight against climate change inexpensively, and perhaps mightily.

  1. Burning natural gas produces more greenhous gases than burning coal. Burning one molecule of methane creates one molecule of carbon dioxide plus two moleculels of water vapor. Water vapor is at least 8 times more effective as a greenhouse gas as carbon dioxide. Thus the greater greenhouse gas effect.
