We’ve noticed a growing trend: global warming alarmism is becoming much less alarming.
From the Oregonian newsapaper:
“For people who want more action on global warming, an inconvenient truth has arisen over the last decade: Annual average temperatures stayed relatively flat globally — and dropped in the United States and Oregon — despite mankind’s growing release of greenhouse gases.
“The hiatus in temperature increases may be contributing to higher public skepticism about warming, particularly in the United States.
“… Computer climate models didn’t predict the hiatus, notes Portland meteorologist Chuck Wiese….”
And that from a newspaper not known for skepticism on the subject.
Then there’s this, from 50 top NASA astronauts, scientists and engineers, who want, “NASA and the Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS) [to] refrain from including unproven remarks in public releases and websites.”
Why do they want NASA to shut up?
“We believe the claims by NASA and GISS, that man-made carbon dioxide is having a catastrophic impact on global climate change are not substantiated, especially when considering thousands of years of empirical data. With hundreds of well-known climate scientists and tens of thousands of other scientists publicly declaring their disbelief in the catastrophic forecasts, coming particularly from the GISS leadership, it is clear that the science is NOT settled.”
In short, they think NASA is stinking up its reputation and making the agency a laughing stock. The signatories, incidentally, have decades of experience – each.
