UK: ‘Hypocrite’ PM to host clean energy summit

David Cameron’s attack on solar power subsidy will destroy the industry, say critics, as London prepares for international conference

David Cameron has been accused of hypocrisy for hosting a major green energy summit at the same time as slashing subsidies for solar power generation.

The third Clean Energy Ministerial conference, featuring more than 20 ministers from the world’s leading and emerging economies, will take place in London later this month in what No 10 hopes will position the UK as a global leader in renewable power and build on the Prime Minister’s claim to lead the “greenest government ever”.

Yet The Independent on Sunday understands that one of the UK’s largest solar energy companies has been invited to the conference not by the Government but by the US Department of Energy.

The conference will take place just weeks after the introduction of a new feed-in tariff for solar power generation in the UK, which campaigners warn will kill off the booming sector, with 5,000 job losses.

  1. AWWWWWW!

  2. I am not in a good mood because I am doing my taxes. Our government in its effort to help its citizens has made more forms to fill out and changed existing forms so you don’t know how to fill out the old forms.

Thus when I see my tax dollars wasted on renewable energy and all the propaganda associated with promoting it, my blood boils. Know one knows how much is spent on propaganda because it is probably beyound human capability to total the amount. Any U. S. dollars spent on this conference is part of the propaganda. Money spent by the EPA given to the American Lung Association or Interfaith Power & Light is part of this propaganda. The amount has to exceed $100 billion annually.

The people in this country are a bunch of sheep to let a government get away with this. It is fortunate the U. S. population 250 years ago were different. They rose up and threw out the British government for far less oppression than today. And the poor folks left in the U. K. are seeing their wealth being squandered by a bunch of idiots. They should rise up and throw off the yoke of economic tyranny thrust upon them now.
