Forbes has allowed Peter Gleick to willfully misrepresent facts and lie with graphs.
We have shown you plenty of times how the carbon scammers attempt to fool people by screwing with scale (e.g.). In fact earth’s atmospheric carbon dioxide levels, when properly represented, simply constitute an indistinguishable flat line along the X axis – after all, they represent a trivial 0.04% of the atmosphere. (The alarming rises depicted are somewhat like looking at a bug under a microscope – a hideous monster seen through the lens turns out to be an insignificant little critter in fact.) Same with earth’s globally averaged mean temperature (a totally pointless statistical construct given that no one lives at ‘globally averaged’). In truth earth has been about 288 kelvins (its actual temperature) give or take one or two for several thousand years. That narrow range, plus or minus perhaps half of one percent year on year, is undetectable to humans and is tiny compared with the minute by minute, day by day, season by season changes we live with all the time. The ‘great global warming crisis’ is nothing more than a ‘chartifact’ of misrepresentation through scale distortion.
See it here and see if you can pick all the distortions: 2011 Climate Change in Pictures and Data: Just the Facts (Forbes)
This is what a magnified temperature series really looks like (HadCRU3, 1850-2005 showing only earth-normal values), and CO2 depicted showing just the range of earth-normal levels (i.e., zero to seven thousand parts per million).
