Climategate 2.0 is here! (Last updated at 02:01 am on 12-05)

More devastating Climategate e-mails were released today. We’ve covered juicy ones in the posts listed below. More on the way. Read ’em all. They validate EVERYTHING the skeptics have been saying. Viva les sceptiques!

  1. I think you missed a golden one. Mike Mann says “this isn’t about truth at all, its about plausibly deniable accusations”

    Part of email 1256735067:

At 16:54 27/10/2009, Michael Mann wrote:

    thanks Phil,
Perhaps we’ll do a simple update to the Yamal post, e.g. linking Keith/s new

As to the issues of robustness, particularly w.r.t. inclusion of the Yamal series, we
actually emphasized that (including the Osborn and Briffa ’06 sensitivity test) in our
original post! As we all know, this isn’t about truth at all, its about plausibly
    deniable accusations,

p.s. any word on HadCRU Sep numbers yet???

  2. Thank you for the one-line summaries and guidance to the e-mails. Please keep up the good work. I’ll pass along anything I discover as I plod through them.

  3. All of you stop this pathetic ad-hominem this instant! It’s a disgrace!

Dave, Perhaps you should visit the archive and read through a number of things. If you do, you will see that the state of climate science is thus
1: The world has warming somewhere between half a degree and one degree
2: There is a valid explanation that part of this warming has been due to carbon dioxide. However, the fraction is pretty much by definition unmeasurable, and we are historically due for a warm period after the Little Ice Age. There is much debate as to exactly how much of the warming is due to man.
3: There is even more debate and uncertainty about the effects of the warming and what it will do. One thing we can say with reasonable certainty is that there will not be any form of apocalypse. No absurd extinctions or mass desertification can be expected. Increased temperatures will be offset by higher CO2 and higher precipitation, so plant life will be more tenacious, not less. Under a “burn the world” scenario of 1,000 ppm CO2, after an initial die-down corals quickly adapt to the higher levels and grow back within 6 months. Given that it will take centuries for CO2 to increase that much, no die-down is expected.
4: There is no effective manner to reduce CO2 consumption on a large scale aside from hydro or nuclear power plants. Everything else is either minor (efficiency improvements), useless (solar), or worse than useless and can actually increase CO2 emissions (wind).
5: The costs of adaptation are relatively small compared to the costs of reducing CO2 output, and the saved money can be put into any number of humanitarian or environmental goals to actually help people or the environment.

  4. Otter, I’m sure he isn’t. Most moms have enough sense, to not actually buy someone like that their own computer. So, logically, it has to be his mom’s computer he is using, which is not in his basement room.

  5. Dave, you should really put a [/sarcasm off] line at the bottom of your posting, or people might actually think you’re serious. Of course, if you really ARE serious then you need to shut off your mom’s computer and go back to your basement.

  6. Ah Dave, you need to make sure you take your meds mate. After all these years of ad hominem abuse from trolls like you, most of us fully understand your diversionary tactics – and you current desperation. Truly pathetic. much like Mann.

  7. Dave, you’re obviously mentally ill! Seek help! See, I can attack the messenger too, instead of any rational comments/arguments. If you’ve ever REALLY looked into it (scientifically), youd (hopefully) see that “the fate of our species and the entire Earth community” is in no danger from this at all.

  8. @ Dave

You’re correct on Monckton’s being a certifible loon on science. He drug “Carbon Warming” from the dustbin under Maggie to beat down the UK coal miners and install Uranium power. He’s now honor bound to continue the fiction that CO2 does cause warming. The Laws of Thermodynamics and the properties of Specific Heat, Thermal Mass and phase shift for Absorption/Emission are against him. He is correct on the “stamp out democracy” undercurrent. This science fraud was to be the cover story for the governmented mandated Carbon Commodity Market. Another pump-and-dump scheme where ‘credits’ were the derivative and climate science the ‘credit default insurance’. It was always intented to enrich the ruling monarch-monopolists and destroy the middle class. Most of what we see as “reality” is a heavily edited version of the “effect” and NEVER the cause. Thus humanity has been led from one expensive, blood drenched crisis blindly into the NEXT crisis. The owners of the war machine feed our childern to the meat grinder on a regular basis. These carefully created wars are always funded by BORROWED MONEY and the ruling class exempts their constantly growing accounts offshore, in ‘charitable trusts’ or as royal privledge. Communism, Fascism, Nazism, Socialism are all really FEUDALISM. Socio-economic systems are falsely presented as a spectrum, but in fact they are a dipole. Either the individual has freedom, property rights and democracy….or you have NONE. History is one continious conspiracy by those in power. Are you ready for a real planet wide Magna Carta….or to be led to the next bloodbath ?

  9. CLIMATE science denial think-tank the Committee For A Constructive Tomorrow is flying a four-strong delegation to next week’s UN climate conference in South Africa, to engage in a “balanced, civil and genuine” dialogue. But the chances of much civility appear to be somewhere between zero and naught, given their lunatic delegate Lord Christopher Monckton’s latest outpouring of bilious, conspiratorial anti-environmentalism.

Never a man to understate his cobbled-together case for malfeasance, CFACT delegate Monckton is fast becoming the Harold Camping of the climate science denial industry, claiming the global warming “scare” is an attempt to “shut down the West”, “stamp out democracy” and establish “a tyranny over the mind of man”.

This would be merely humourous and pathetic if it wasn’t the fate of our species and the entire Earth community we’re haggling about.

  10. More proof that science and CAGW are two different things. Did whoever released these E-mails anticipate a whitewash first time around? Are there any E-Mails dated after Climategate 1.0? I’m having a hard time believing they didn’t take measures to secure their data after 1.0.

A scientist’s professional endorsement of any cause is pure arrogance and defeats objectivity. And the folks at the institutional level who are supposed to deal in objectivity – whether at the UEAs and Penn States of the world, the IPCC, or in journalism or education – still think that fact is an irrelevant obstacle to exerting power and influence.

  11. Funny how the scientists were saying behind closed doors what skeptics were writing in blogs (a point made by Shub Niggurath first).

This leaves the alarmists, courtriers and assorted pea brained politicians literally out in the cold.

  12. It’s like a Thanksgiving tradition! Climate junkscience falls apart, what a great thing to be thankful for. I sure hope it gets more headlines this year. I am hopeful since the Demi Moore / Ashton Kutcher divorce is not nearly as exciting as the Tiger Woods drama.
