Which about sums up the latest IPCC ‘report’ – here’s a collation
Discredited UN IPCC Receives Little Attention for Latest Global Warming Report – “Look for many in the liberal media to use the IPCC report to link extreme weather events of today with global warming, as several have already done, but a closer look reveals this is not exactly the case. As for these attempts by the left, I simply say ‘nice try.’” (E&PW)
The Latest Report From The IPCC Is Seeking To Rationalize The Failure Of Global Multi-Decadal Climate Models To Skillfully Predict Extreme Events In The Next Few Decades – With the increasingly realization that the multi-decadal global climate models are failing to be able to skillfully predict changes in regional climate statistics (such as extreme weather events) in the coming decades, there is an attempt to seek other ways to claim such forecasts can be made. (Roger Pielke Sr.)
Climate change effects unknown: IPCC report – GREAT uncertainty remains about how much of an impact climate change will have on future extreme weather events, the world’s leading climate scientists have found.
While there has been an increase in warm days and a decrease in cold nights, the likely impact on future weather events would not be evident for decades because of natural variability, the scientists say in a key review prepared for the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. (GWPF)
Extreme weather will strike as climate change takes hold, IPCC warns – Heavier rainfall, storms and droughts could wipe billions off economies and destroy lives, says report by 220 scientists (Guardian)
A Few Comments on the IPCC SREX Report – The IPCC SREX report came out today and there were no surprises in the report itself. Here are a few thoughts on the report.
Most importantly, the IPCC should be congratulated for delivering a message that cannot have been comfortable to deliver. The IPCC has accurately reflected the scientific literature on the state of attribution with respect to extreme events — it is not there yet, not even close, for events such as floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, bushfires and on other topics there remain enormous uncertainties. That is just the way that it is, so that is indeed what the IPCC should have reported. (Roger Pielke Jr.)
IPCC Introduces New ‘Climate Change’ Definition – Reflecting the diversity of the communities involved in this assessment and progress in science, several of the definitions used in this Special Report differ in breadth or focus from those used in the AR4 and other IPCC reports. (GWPF)
And a hand-wringer from Seth Boring-theme: Science panel: Get ready for extreme weather – WASHINGTON (AP) — Think of the Texas drought, floods in Thailand and Russia’s devastating heat waves as coming attractions in a warming world. That is the warning from top international climate scientists and disaster experts after meeting in Africa.
The panel said the world needs to get ready for more dangerous and “unprecedented extreme weather” caused by global warming. These experts fear that without preparedness, crazy weather extremes may overwhelm some locations, making some places unlivable. (Associated Press)
