Here’s what Mitt Romney said in in Pittsburgh yesterday:
My view is that we don’t know what’s causing climate change on this planet. And the idea of spending trillions and trillions of dollars to try to reduce CO2 emissions is not the right course for us.

We suppose, however, that there should be a probationary period before he’s allowed full membership in the Deniers Club.

well when i saw the headline i thought great he denies the holocaust, but this is small potatoes, once one finds out the lies about the holohoax the rest of their houser of cards coems falling down all around .I wanna hear him say he denies the holohoax. soon prison awaits those who do as in europe they imprison people for long terms over 7 years for soem, when lies becoem truth then you never will find your way in other words you are lost.
With apologies to all Used Cars Salesmen everywhere; Romney fits the stereotype of a used car salesman; says what ever he needs to to close the deal. I wouldn’t trust him with this statement. Science ignorant and willing to be led instead of taking the time to research on his own.
Of course he’s a denier. It’s what he has to do.to get the Republican nomination for President, the same way a Democratic candidate has to buy into man-caused global warming to get that nomination. He will be a denier until (if) he gets the nomination.
The problem here isn’t Romney, it’s the current nomination system that forces candidates in both parties to pander to the most extreme views–no matter how patently idiotic–of party activists.
Does anyone notice the disconnect between Romney’s eyes and the rest of his face? His mouth smiles but his eyes seem to ask if we believe him. Maybe this is why….

Oh, but now we don’t know and reducing CO2 is not the right course for us.

Muller says he confirmed the “hockey Stick” Well I read how it was constructed. Just a plain old fashioned undergraduate fudge job. It deserves an F and anyone trying to defend it should be thrown out of school There are several climate reconstructs out in the literature which coincide with history ( Viking settlements in Greenland and such). Mann saw a way to make a comfortable living by placating the misanthropes with money (Hollywood Crowd and guilt ridden dot.com-ers ). Other guys, like Holdrin, are now paying the policy game, since they have not real data to justify impoverishing the world. Its pure elitism. These clowns better be careful. Create poverty and hunger and you will so the seeds for world conflicts. With today’s technology, that will create much more havoc then a slightly warmer planet.

True, my friend. We should research away. However, this is entirely different than what is currently being proposed.
What is being proposed is the construction of hundreds of thousands of unreliable high-maintenance windmills that cannot provide baseload power. This is destabilizing our electric grid and causing fuel poverty.
We see the seeding of fine cropland with inedible plants like rapeseed and jatropha to cater to people too foolish to see that isn’t converted corps that are the problem, but converted cropland. This has brought RUIN upon many Indian farmers who planted jatropha just to see the biodiesel market crash so they have a crop that is not even worth burning.
We see hundreds billions being spent on carbon credits, many if not most of which are fraudulent.
We see amounts spent on climate change that could easily eradicate polio and malaria by treament and vaccination. All of this in the name of preventing a paltry increase in the rate of malaria.
We see people forced to endure continuing poverty as they are denied reliable electricity via coal power in the name of protecting the poor.
And Ravi, the BEST study neither proves nor disproves human-induced global warming. It merely is a new temperature dataset that says that we have warmed in the past hundred years, which no rational being has denied. It says nothing about the source of warming, which the debate is about. The media press release was a deliberate fraud on his part.
I agree with the posters that say Romney is wishy/washy on this issue. He
will say whatever it takes to get elected. If elected he will disappoint many
people. We need someone clear and conservative on this issue and fiscal issues and it isn’t Romney.

Ravi, perhaps you have not read the earlier posts on Muller and his group. Muller have never been a skeptic. Further, his work does no more than show that NOOA, GISS and Hadley properly used the data. It proves nothing, Eugene Robinson’s ill informed pronouncements notwithstanding.

You guys be the judge. And even if we cannot link CO2 to climate change directly, there is no reason why we should not look fro alternative sources of fuel that would not require us to drill deeper in harsher environments potentially risking critical ecosystems and, as a result, the industries based on those ecosystems.
But this is Mitt Romney. Next week, in another state, he’ll say that CO2 threatens the purity of or wives and daughters, and the moon is made of green cheese. The week after in Wisconsin, the moon will suddenly be made of Ritz crackers. In short, positions that Mitt Romney takes have an amazing similarity to New England weather.
